You and I are quite alike….
I became a naturopathic doctor to help people understand that there was more to health than drugs. For me in particular, I was passionate about helping women treat the cause of their health challenges, not succumb to the birth control pill as the only option to treat their dysmenorrhea.
I wanted to work with people, knew that I wanted my own practice, but had not necessarily planned or designed a clinical practice that could accommodate growth…. or blunt my overwhelm.
I missed the boat.
People didn’t want to wait a year to keep working on themselves (or with me), they were hoping I would offer something else right away. When they did have the patience to wait, they weren’t coming back for my famous physical, they were coming back right where we had started, sick, again. I was only doing half my job, fixing the problem, but not supporting them in staying that way.
